We define the role of the Mentor/Sponsor in the traditional manner: A person who does everything possible, within the limits of personal experience and knowledge, to help the newcomer get sober and stay sober through the 12-step program. The Mentor/Sponsor must show by present example and addiction history what the program has meant in his life.

Because the Mentor/Sponsor assumes a greater mentorship role, it is recommended that the sponsor be someone who has a longer history of sobriety than of the program attendee that he is sponsoring. He should be committed to mentoring the program attendee on a long term basis, and he should be available to speak with the program attendee as often as possible.

We prefer that our program attendees meet with their Mentor/Sponsor on a scheduled basis, so that they can build their relationships quickly and effectively. Attending meetings together is one way to meet and build your relationship. The Mentor/Sponsor is required to be a committed mature believer in the Christian faith.

If you have any further questions about obtaining a Mentor/Sponsor, please don’t hesitate to ask. Our staff is available to answer your questions, before or during your residency.

HOMES OF PROMISE believes in an individualized approach in helping plot our program attendees' road to recovery. Over a period of time, we help define the key interests, hobbies, and goals that our program attendees can develop and we work to create a schedule that adheres to these positive tasks while holding them accountable to their own growth. We also help to promote interest and acclimation to the abundant 12 Step meetings and community. We encourage our program attendees to see that sobriety can be fun by attending house and sober events. Homes Of Promise is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation.
