We define the role of the Mentor/Sponsor in the traditional manner: A person who does everything possible, within the limits of personal experience and knowledge, to help the newcomer get sober and stay sober through the 12-step program. The Mentor/Sponsor must show by present example and addiction history what the program has meant in his life.

Because the Mentor/Sponsor assumes a greater mentorship role, it is recommended that the sponsor be someone who has a longer history of sobriety than of the program attendee that he is sponsoring. He should be committed to mentoring the program attendee on a long term basis, and he should be available to speak with the program attendee as often as possible.

We prefer that our program attendees meet with their Mentor/Sponsor on a scheduled basis, so that they can build their relationships quickly and effectively. Attending meetings together is one way to meet and build your relationship. The Mentor/Sponsor is required to be a committed mature believer in the Christian faith.

If you have any further questions about obtaining a Mentor/Sponsor, please don’t hesitate to ask. Our staff is available to answer your questions, before or during your residency.
