At Homes of Promise, we hold an unwavering commitment to Christian doctrine; this is what governs and guides the standards and policies in our recovery homes. While we acknowledge that the traditional 12-step approach is an effective, time-tested and globally respected model for substance abuse recovery, we believe that full recovery cannot be achieved without the love of Jesus and His active presence in our lives. Therefore, our homes operate on teachings drawn exclusively from disciplines pertaining to living in accordance with the Christian Bible.

Central to our philosophy are the beliefs that:

  • The counterfeits of this world only offer moments of pleasure, accompanied by long term pain and suffering
  • God’s word is sufficient for all conditions pertaining to man’s mind, will, emotions, soul, and spirit, including addiction
  • 12-step programs are designed to guide and assist the addict in a journey along a path to a new way of life
  • In our program, the 12-step approach is accompanied by Christian teaching, promoting the truth that God guides and directs His children along this path
  • God’s plans for a new life are explained in great detail in the Bible
  • The Bible clearly teaches men how to live clean and sober lives

Furthermore, we believe that sober living homes play an important role in the early stages of recovery; they are designed to be places of accountability and fellowship, both of which are crucial to maintaining a sober lifestyle. At Homes of Promise, addicted men can find the authentic support they have been searching for. While the emptiness felt deep within can only be filled by the One that created us, we provide the accountability and friendship that serve as a healthy foundation for recovery.
